The Clichéd ‘What I Learned From My Internship’ Post

Image
It started off as an innocent call from one of my mom’s oldest friends.
Let me stage the scene for you, dear reader.
It was around ten in the night. I was deeply immersed in my studies, cramming for the exam the very next day. My mom was lying on the 2004-era sofa and chatting with her old friend.
Then suddenly, my mom spoke to me, breaking me out of my reverie, “There’s a website called Internshala where you get to apply for internships during the summer.”
“Oh, I have an account there,” was my reply and I plunged into my books, frantically trying to memorize the gist of the whole chapter.
“You know, V* Aunty said that doing internships is a good thing for summer.” Mom said, completely used to my last minute jittery behaviour. “You’ll get certificates and work experience – which will help you for better job offers and post-grad options.”
“That sounds cool,” I noted. “I’ll definitely apply for one this summer.”
And thus, dear reader, began Archie’s Great Internship Saga, Summer…

These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things...

Here I am, staring at the computer screen, completely run out of ideas.

That's what happens to you when you end up giving three solo PowerPoint presentations, a four-hour long midterm exam and a ton of other extracurricular activities.
Might I add, you've done none of these activities to the best of your abilities and you've only done it for the sake of passing.
Anyhow.
So, as I have no grand ideas to amuse you, allow me to tell you about my majestically amazing self in a list of 25 points (Because hey, it's close to Christmas).
Here goes nothing:
A List Of My Favourite Things/Situations/People
1. As strange as it may sound, I love the smell of wood-smoke. I don't know why, but it really seems so crisp and invokes really nostalgic memories.
2. It may seem really contrary to my overall character, but I really enjoy singing. I know I have a very high-pitched (sometimes really a virile mixture of nasal and shrill when I'm angry) voice. Yet, I enjoy singing m…

An Analysis On How Much I Love The Harry Potter Series.

The Harry Potter series, written by J.K. Rowling is one of my favourite book series. In fact, it gets the first spot.
When people hear about Harry Potter, they often associate it with magic. Yes, it does involve a very good dosage of magic, but truth be told, it deals with a lot of other subjects too.
According to J.K. Rowling, the main theme of the whole series is ‘death’. Death is something which all of us are afraid of. In fact, when the word death flashes in your mind, you can hardly imagine what happens after. Death is natural. It is inevitable.
I can see how this series deals with death. It was very clever from Rowling’s part to show how Voldemort wanted to be invincible, to be immortal. It is something which many dictators and those of the diabolical, despicable kind desire – immortality. I like the concept of Horcruxes, the articles where one keeps a part of his soul to keep himself protected.
Also, I like how she described the effects of a person’s death on the loved ones. Wh…

Poor Little Good Girl

She’s so nice, Her soul is devoid of any vice, She’s so kind, Has a crystal clear mind,
Poor little good girl, Is forced to live in a dreamworld, Where there are people with heart of gold, Where she’d meet a perfect best friend and a person, who’s going to be there forever,
Poor little good girl, She doesn’t realize that her world is swamped by many a queen bee, Who are oh-so-completely plastic? Who think that she’s somewhat spastic,
For not being able to talk like them, Replace talk with ‘blabber’, why don’t you?
Poor little god girl, She doesn’t realize guys no longer see, If her heart’s truly golden, They only look at how much makeup she’s slapped on her face Poor little good girl indeed
Poor little good girl, She doesn’t realize that swearing isn’t her style, So out of naivety she does that for a while, And regrets it all, later on, Poor little good girl, She is frustrated with the plastic dolls around her, Who only ‘pretend’ to be completely ‘delightful’? Deligh…

Choices

Here, when one finishes the tenth grade, he or she has to make choices - which field of education to go to. Either you can become a scientist or a doctor or an engineer if you take sciences or you can take commerce to become entrepreneurs, managers, accountants or you can take arts to paint the world with your creativity.
Basically, people here worship those who take sciences, treat those who go for commerce in a normal way and indirectly try to downgrade those who follow their heart and take arts. So one's choices finally help in deciding how people should treat him.
The thing is, I don't say that taking science is a heinous crime. Science is a fascinating field, actually speaking. But the truth is, you have to be passionate about it. Science is not a pathway to goldmine as most of the people here think it is. Just because you happen to use your brain doesn't mean that you have to necessarily use it for the greater good of sciences. You can use it creatively through arts…
