The Gigantic Terror Called Public Speaking

Today's one of those days, When you've forgotten everything, That you'd memorized all night long,
You're worried that everything would go wrong;
Today's one of those days,
When you'd rather stay in a cage,
With a poisonous, ominous snake,  Than stand in front of dozens on a stage;
Around you, are people lounging about,
As cool as cucumbers,
And here you are - Crippled with fear, struggling to remember;
A shaky breath you take,
Pursue your lips, toss you hair,
Trying so hard to fake,
That you're an undaunted winner;
But all that false bravado falls,
When you see the first contender,
Enters the podium,
Clears his throat and stands tall;
And then anxiety slithers in back,
Like a poisonous python,
Wrapping around you,
Making your insides go slack;
You see the first contender talk,
With flamboyant gestures, incredible voice modulation;
Seeing the audience,
It's sure he's won the adulation;
And then, here you are,
Still trying to calm down,
Your thoughts running like a…

Something Which Every Person (Be It A Flabby Balloon Or Be It A Scrawny Scarecrow) Ought to Read

Image
I have a question for you, darling reader: what's the worst thing in this world?

Nope. It's not corrupt government officials. It's not riots or wars or any other forms of violence. It's definitely not malnourished children barely scraping by in third world countries.
Turns out, the worst thing in this world is - gasp! - gaining weight.
Nope. I'm not kidding.
Gaining weight is not good, according to the societal norms. Once you gain weight, you look like you've been having food that you actually like, you look like your health is stable and it seems like you're actually comfortable in your (horrendously flabby!) skin.
And, my dears, we don't want that, do we?
We live in a world where stick-thin people - who refuse to eat food which they are lucky they can have - are idolized. We live in a world where people who are healthy are considered as some sort of hideous balls who don't deserve to be within our presence.
So, as a concerned blogger, I wo…

What I Really Want To Do

Image
The tragedy of this world is,
One cannot afford to miss,
The opportunity to be,
A normal human being;
The world wants us to,  Conform to its norm;
The world wants us all to,
Ditch our uniqueness and stay uniform;
But do you know,
What I really want to do?
Well, let me not waste any more verse,
And let me tell you:
I want to,  Ditch the pretenses that I live in,  Abandon the fakeness that  I've got surrounded with,
Leave the toxicity,
Of this world;
I want to,
Set my hair free,
And allow its locks to hit me,
As the strong wind blows;
I want to,
Ditch my socks and sneakers,
Run barefoot as the cool dewdrop,
Of the grass tickles my heel;
I want to,
Stop acting so klutzy and coy,
Scream my heart out in joy,
Because I'm a free, free bird;
I want to,
Drop flat onto the grass,
Lay down there awhile,
Soaking in the peace;
I want to,
Gaze at the surroundings for hours,
Committing the vibrant colours of life,
To my otherwise fickle memory;
But the tragedy is,
None of this can ever happen;  Because nor…

An Analysis On How Much I Love The Harry Potter Series.

The Harry Potter series, written by J.K. Rowling is one of my favourite book series. In fact, it gets the first spot.
When people hear about Harry Potter, they often associate it with magic. Yes, it does involve a very good dosage of magic, but truth be told, it deals with a lot of other subjects too.
According to J.K. Rowling, the main theme of the whole series is ‘death’. Death is something which all of us are afraid of. In fact, when the word death flashes in your mind, you can hardly imagine what happens after. Death is natural. It is inevitable.
I can see how this series deals with death. It was very clever from Rowling’s part to show how Voldemort wanted to be invincible, to be immortal. It is something which many dictators and those of the diabolical, despicable kind desire – immortality. I like the concept of Horcruxes, the articles where one keeps a part of his soul to keep himself protected.
Also, I like how she described the effects of a person’s death on the loved ones. Wh…

Poor Little Good Girl

She’s so nice, Her soul is devoid of any vice, She’s so kind, Has a crystal clear mind,
Poor little good girl, Is forced to live in a dreamworld, Where there are people with heart of gold, Where she’d meet a perfect best friend and a person, who’s going to be there forever,
Poor little good girl, She doesn’t realize that her world is swamped by many a queen bee, Who are oh-so-completely plastic? Who think that she’s somewhat spastic,
For not being able to talk like them, Replace talk with ‘blabber’, why don’t you?
Poor little god girl, She doesn’t realize guys no longer see, If her heart’s truly golden, They only look at how much makeup she’s slapped on her face Poor little good girl indeed
Poor little good girl, She doesn’t realize that swearing isn’t her style, So out of naivety she does that for a while, And regrets it all, later on, Poor little good girl, She is frustrated with the plastic dolls around her, Who only ‘pretend’ to be completely ‘delightful’? Deligh…
