Fearless

Hi everyone!
How are you all? How was your Christmas? Did you all have too many cakes?
My Christmas was uneventful, unfortunately. I was busy studying and I had a severe headache, to the point that I almost started imagining that I was going to die.
I must admit, that was a bit over-the-top.
Anyway, I was going through my writing folder on my computer and I stumbled across this poem - one of the three poems I'd written for my school magazine.
And I don't think it got selected. :(
So, here it is, unabridged.
Hope you all like it!
The room is devoid,
Of any soul but myself;
The window’s open,
But the sky is a dismal grey;
My lips are quivering,
My fingers are shivering,
My heart’s maniacally,
Thudding against my ribcage;
My breathing is unsteadying,  As each minute passes;
Violent tornadoes of fear,
Are churning in my stomach;
‘You can’t do this,’ A nagging voice,
Lurking in a dark corner,
Of your brain, hisses;
‘You shall fail miserably and,
Be upset about it forever…

Underdog

~ free verse and based on a true story
Never have I,  Been the one,
To be bestowed,
With golden laurels;
Never have I,
Been the one,
Cheered by the loud,
Enthusiastic and loving crowd;
Never have I,
Been the one,
To display,
Deep-hidden talents;
I have always been,
The enigmatic underdog;  Away from the sun,
Overlooked by everyone;
Sometimes, I wished,
To have the attention,
That the victorious winners,
Receive with fanfare;
Sometimes, I wished,
I get the trophies,
As a proof that,
I'm as good as the rest;
Yet now, I'm rather glad,
I'm glad that I won life's challenges,
I'm glad that I didn't chase after laurels,
And compromised with my morals;

The 300 Bucks Challenge

In my Economics textbook, money is defined as a medium of exchange.
Now, I’ve never been the richest of the lot. I’ve never been given a huge amount as pocket money. I only got good gifts because I did well enough in my exams. I got my phone, iPod and books because of a little bit of hard work, not because my parents had a strong urge to blow off their hard-earned money on no particular occasion.
Even though I’ve insisted on getting the best of things, now I realize that you don’t get anything unless you work hard or you’ve got insanely rich parents.
So for the past few days, I was wondering about money when an idea struck in my head.
How about – how about I stick to a budget for an entire month?
This thought came across my mind while I was travelling.
Finally, I came to a decision that I should survive on 300 buck for a month.
No, I mean three hundred rupees, not dollars.
Now, you’ll just scoff, because spending three hundred rupees in a day is one of my special talents. So, how am I …
