Writing Prompt #1 - Days As People

Describe each day of the week as if it were a person. Give each one a name, age and job.

46-year-old Monica Frost was a career woman. She was constantly driven by the need to excel in her job. Her job had made her sacrifice her family – she had put her mother in an old-age home and divorced her husband around the same time.

Monica was so obsessed with her job as a marketing analyst that she had no regret about throwing away her family.

Monica’s only friends were her laptop and her office chair. No one invited her to their house parties. She had never been inside a club – even in her teens.

Monica could not think of a day where she had relaxed and let go. She hardly remembered the day when she’d last left her high-rise apartment and gone on a vacation. She couldn’t think of a day when she’d had a complete meal, not a burger from a fast-food joint near her apartment. She hardly remembered the day when she’d had a full night’s sleep.

But then again, Monica was too busy to think of such thin…

TMI Tag - Possibly My Longest, Messiest Rant Ever!

So, M from the amazing blog, The Life Of Little Me, nominated me for TMI (Too Much Information). Thank you so much, M! Guys, do check out her blog because it's one of the coolest blogs ever! :) So here, you're supposed to answer some questions and then nominate a set of bloggers for the same! :D 1. What are you wearing?

Right now, I’m wearing a loose green T-shirt and striped, pale-blue capris.

2. Have you ever been in love?

As much as I’d love to tell you a passionate, tragic (not to mention completely unrealistic) out-of-the-way Mills & Boons story, I actually have never fallen in love. I’ve had crushes, yes. But that’s about it.

3. Have you ever had a terrible break up?

I haven’t fallen in love, dude. How can one expect me to have a terrible break up? :p

4.  How tall are you?

I guess five feet five but I’m keeping my hopes up.

5. How much do you weigh?

50 kilograms – I think it’s really okay for my height. Had I been 40 kgs, then I WOULD HAVE been worried.

6. Any tattoos?

If yo…

Gossip Girl

The room's packed and bustling. Some are dancing outrageously to the loud music. Some are drinking punch or eating chips. Some are laughing out loud and talking nonsense, not giving a damn about the world.  And then there's you.
You're seated at a lonely corner, accompanied by your close confidante -- a rather silly being who mirrors what you're doing. You're sitting rather stiffly, as if you're sitting on a rather hard chair. Your legs are crossed together, mirroring the seating style of a royal queen. Your crimson lips are curled into a nasty scowl. Your nostrils are flared in disgust, as though there's some foul odour lingering in the air.
Your hooded eyes fall on a girl giggling like a little schoolchild. Her hair is tied messily into a bun and she's wearing a sparkling little black dress. She's listening to a highly entertaining story told by a rather handsome young man, along with her group of friends.
"What does he see in them?"…

Debutantes

Image
Debutantes written by Cora Harrison is one of the best historical fiction books I’ve read. And trust me, I’ve read quite a few books from that genre. It’s dreamy, romantic, glamorous, mysterious and warm all at the same time! I really loved it!
All right, I was attracted by the cover of this book first. Yeah, yeah, they say that never judge a book by its cover but the gorgeous shade of pink and the girl (It is Daisy, right?) looking at you with those delicate eyes and the summary at the back of the book – they attracted me a lot.
Slightly reminiscent of Little Women and Pride and Prejudice , this book tells the story of four sisters, mainly focussing on sixteen-year-old Daisy Derrington. There’s Violet, the eldest sister, who wishes to have her coming-out ball and marry a rich ‘elder son’. Next are the twins, Poppy and Daisy. Poppy is a jazz enthusiast while Daisy wants to be a filmmaker. The last, but not the least, is Rose – an aspiring writer who I personally could connect with.
