Love Is

Mixed verse.
***

Contrary to popular opinion,
Love is,
A lot more than,
Grand gestures, passionate declarations;
Love is when a mother,
Comforts you so your pain goes away,
Gives your forehead a gentle kiss,
And a warm hug that's pure bliss;
Love is when a father,
Sits beside and patiently, teaches you,
Everything about the mysteries of life,  Stays strong beside you during a dark strife;
Love is when a grandma, Makes you laugh,
With her hilarious anecdotes,
Of a village life filled with trees and boats;
Love is when a grandpa,
Pats your back,
Just so you peacefully fall asleep,
In times when you can only weep;
Love is when an uncle and aunt,
Take you out on weekends,
To celestial planetariums, glittering musicals,
 Each moment with them is simply magical;
Love is when a little cousin,
Barges into your room,
And bosses over you,
Tells you what to do;
Love is when you see,
A baby cousin,
Saying your name correctly, out loud,
Strangely, you can't help but feel proud;

On Watching The Tale As Old As Time.

Date: 24th October, 2015

Time: Around 8 in the Night

Place: NCSI @ Dome

It is not everyday that you get the chance to watch one of your favourite Disney movies as a live-action musical.

Yes, dear reader, I got to watch Disney's Beauty And The Beast The Musical at NCSI @ Dome in Mumbai! And you know what? This is the first time ever that a musical on a scale as grand as that of Broadway has taken place in India!

Naturally, being the colossal Disney fan that I am, to say that I was giddy with excitement would be the understatement of the century.

Outwardly, I seemed (somewhat) calm, because:

a) I was with my uncle, aunt and nine-year-old cousin because I'm supposedly an influence on my cousin. One stupid move, she'd ape it and my uncle and aunt would be very disappointed in me.

In case you're a regular reader of my blog, you do realise how much I care about not disappointing my family, right?

b) There were fancy people about, dressed in uncomfortably tight clothes, face…

A Letter Of Gratitution

Dear God (or any other superior being that presides over our lives),
Hi there.  I know, a lot of people out there doubt the fact that You exist. I know, a lot of people out there apparently know that You don't exist (because there's no 'scientific proof' or maybe because they want to sound cool because come on, haters are the 'new cool'.) But, after years of being confused and befuddled whether You're really there or not, I've realized that You are there. You are there within each and every one of us. You're there in the air, You're there in the water, You're there on the earth, You're everywhere. You are infinite and You don't have a typical form. You have a strong presence though, which always, always helps people to move forward. You help people, not directly or magically, but with your mere presence. You're Hope, You're the Light that people find in a dark abyss. You're the Giver of positivity and it's only up…

My Conflicted Thoughts On My Native Place

Image
Of all the places in this world, I can assure you that my native place is one of the most enchanting places ever.
It's a quaint, quaint area shrouded heavily by greenery. The most renowned trees of my homeland are gigantic coconut trees, that sway gently against the warm winds blowing. Simply looking at them gives you vertigo. What astounds me all the more is how a lot of people can climb up the slim bark of the tree and manage to pluck coconuts.
Why, if I were in their places, I would have fallen down because I fear heights with a passion.
(But then again, if I were in their places, I wouldn't have climbed up coconut trees anyway!)
The ground isn't grey concrete, but rich sand on which you can see wild plants growing with disorderly conduct.
(Thankfully, you can't see the small snakes slithering within the wild grass!)
There's a lot of water around too. There's a pond near my house which is absolutely positively gorgeous. People often come there, to swim …

The Secret Christmas Parties

I'm supposed to be studying for a test.

The competitive side within me is screaming out loud: Get your butt off that chair, right now! Or else you'll flunk!
The procrastinating side is like, Pshhh! Whatever, as if anyone else's studying right now!
The competitive side: STUDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But here I am, listening to Tiffany Alvord's amazing cover of Wrecking Ball and blogging. I'm constantly licking my lips because they've dried up (curse you, winter). My grandmother's asleep in the other room and there's no one else in the house.
As everyone knows it, Christmas is fast approaching. Every shop in the vicinity will be decorated, so will the houses. People will hang laurel wreaths outside their doors and bring Christmas trees. People will make cakes and gingerbread houses. Kids (like my seven-year-old cousin) will write letters to the nonexistent Santa Claus, begging him to bring new toy-cars and dolls. You'll hear annoying, though endeari…

Freaky Friday Review

Image
Yeah, so I saw Freaky Friday starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis yesterday.
Don't give me such weird stares (Which I know you're giving once you read the first sentence). The movie was released when I was, what, a six-year-old kid.
So now, I begin with the review.  ~~~~

Poor Little Good Girl

She’s so nice, Her soul is devoid of any vice, She’s so kind, Has a crystal clear mind,
Poor little good girl, Is forced to live in a dreamworld, Where there are people with heart of gold, Where she’d meet a perfect best friend and a person, who’s going to be there forever,
Poor little good girl, She doesn’t realize that her world is swamped by many a queen bee, Who are oh-so-completely plastic? Who think that she’s somewhat spastic,
For not being able to talk like them, Replace talk with ‘blabber’, why don’t you?
Poor little god girl, She doesn’t realize guys no longer see, If her heart’s truly golden, They only look at how much makeup she’s slapped on her face Poor little good girl indeed
Poor little good girl, She doesn’t realize that swearing isn’t her style, So out of naivety she does that for a while, And regrets it all, later on, Poor little good girl, She is frustrated with the plastic dolls around her, Who only ‘pretend’ to be completely ‘delightful’? Deligh…

Dear Mom,

Image
You knew you were in for a roller-coaster ride,
When I arrived by your side,
You knew you were going to face challenges,
Which were going to be much tougher than before,

Dear mom, I'll be stupid if I say 'I love you',
These three words aren't supposed to be said,
They're not to be fed
On a particular day called 'Mother's Day';

When I was little,
I would often fall down because I was oh so brittle,
You'd pick me up and say,
"Don't worry, baby. These scars will soon go away,"

Dear mom, I'll be stupid if I say, 'For you, I'll bring the greatest treasures,"
I'll be stupid if I say, 'I'll bestow you with the greatest pleasures,'
I'll be a nutcase if I say, 'I'll make you the happiest woman in the earth,'
I am, I assure you, the happiest child in this universe,
Because you're the woman who gave birth,
To me,

Dear mom, you're the one who bathed and nursed me,
Dear mom, you're the one…
