Trust

Image
No matter how much you deny,  A lot of people don't know,
What really does go,
On in your mysterious mind;
They say you're ordinary,
Sweet, simple and soft;  But I know you better,
You're enigmatic and a hopeless fool;
I see right through you,
I see right past your innocent smile,  I see right past your sweet voice,
I see that you're a lonesome being with no choice;
To you, trust is a treasure,
Which has no measure;  To you, trust is a luxury,
That you cannot afford to lose;
You have a biased view,
About this world;  You think everyone is waiting,
To hurt you real bad;
You think the world wants,
You to fall deep into a bottomless pit,
You think they'd love to see,
The light in your eyes unlit;
According to you,  Sharing your secret,
Is like giving away,
Your credit card;
You may be a strong person,  But right now,  You're cautious, fearful and downright scared,
You're scratched, bruised and disfiguring-ly scarred;
You'd rather murder your own …

Nostalgia

I wrote this for my school magazine which has not been published so far. I hope this gets published in the magazine! :)
Hope you all like it! xx
It’s been many years,
Since I came here -
This lovely place,
That once was my childhood escape;
Bushes filled with roses,  Trees of maple lined in the perimeter,
Just to guard this heaven,
 From those who dared to destroy its peace;
I stroll along the sidewalk, Under the late afternoon sunlight,
Lost in my current worries,
When I hear –
A horde of children clad in uniforms,
Arrive from the floral entrance,
Chattering, laughing and jumping –
Not caring about the world;
I stop on my tracks,  And silently observe,
Some children,
Buy ice-creams from a local vendor;
I see some of them,  Rushing to the swings,
Climbing up the monkey bars,
Schoolbags tossed into a corner;
Some of them,  Pass by me,
Joking about school teachers,
And bursting into peals of laughter;
It’s been quite a while – Oh! Ages, actually! –
Since my lips have,
Curved into a…

Dignity

Guess I'm in the mood to write poetry. So here's another poem for you readers. Hope you like it!
Head held high,  Lips curved into a little smile,
Dressed as she pleased,
She was the epitome of poise;
People stared at her,
Some with pride,
Some with awe,
And some with jealousy;
Yet, she was nonplussed,  Her eyes were set straight,  On the goal,
Which she desired to achieve;
"Look at her!"  An envious wench hissed,  "She's nothing great, only fair,
Then why does she have her nose up in the air?"
"What's with that strutting?"  Questioned another green-eyed monster,
"It's not as though,  She's some sort of celebrity!"
She walked past them,
Not paying them heed,
Not bothering to invest her thoughts,  In abusing them;
That's what is dignity,
Being set on what you deem is important,
Being set on not to think ill of others;  This is what you call dignity,  Being set on your goal,  Being set on emerging from the negativity;
It'…

Underdog

~ free verse and based on a true story
Never have I,  Been the one,
To be bestowed,
With golden laurels;
Never have I,
Been the one,
Cheered by the loud,
Enthusiastic and loving crowd;
Never have I,
Been the one,
To display,
Deep-hidden talents;
I have always been,
The enigmatic underdog;  Away from the sun,
Overlooked by everyone;
Sometimes, I wished,
To have the attention,
That the victorious winners,
Receive with fanfare;
Sometimes, I wished,
I get the trophies,
As a proof that,
I'm as good as the rest;
Yet now, I'm rather glad,
I'm glad that I won life's challenges,
I'm glad that I didn't chase after laurels,
And compromised with my morals;
