A bulb dangling from the ceiling was the only source of light in the Lair. The curtains were drawn. The room was barely furnished, except for a bed with a mattress and threadbare blanket. There was a half-empty beer bottle on the desk. Right in front of the desk, was a young man whose face was beaded with perspiration.
Seated right under the hanging light was a young girl, tied very tightly against a wooden chair. She looked dishevelled. Her red hair was a tangled mess and dress was torn. You could see multiple scars on her arms. You could also see the anger and the realization of a betrayal in her eyes.
“What the hell do you want from me, you two-faced backstabber?”
He could feel the girl’s piercing eyes on him. But he refused to …
